A moment in time...

A second or two in a day can capture so much more than an entire day of activity...at least it seems that way to me. And by reliving it, I wonder how many others stopped at that special moment and exhaled. Maybe just me.

In M...otion

There are times where luck is everything; nothing less. This young girls feet were caught at just the right moment - one foot lifting off and the other not yet planted on the wet sand. Not sure why that is so intriguing to me but I find it lovely. At that moment most of the sunset viewers had departed and the family was calling to this girl to hurry along...time for dinner. Had I blinked, this moment would have been lost. That I did not have my tripod along is rather amazing in that this is fairly clean. A lucky sunset. A lucky trip for me. A lucky shot. Pure luck.

Thoughts

of a sunset, 9/11, honeymooners, the future.
By now, when I shot this image, all the sunset visitors and photographers had wondered off to other places and for awhile I stood alone in the gathering dark and thought that this was a tough date for our country, and yet I had just had the most wonderful moments with a happily newlywed couple from Dallas, Texas. I shot them unawares and offered them
copies of what I had. They were darling, happy and in that special place that newlyweds enjoy and so excited about their lives ahead. So uniquely American - so confident and assured. I was just out for a long walk, and then this interaction transpired and it was
such a lovely way to end a very sad day.

I walked back in the dark, ready for a soak in a hot tub and hoping my images of the couple came out okay. They did in spades....what luck! They will love the photos but I will love the attitude of yet another generation as they step up to assume their responsibilities. We are in good hands.
As far as photography, the color gets better after the sun fades to dark. When everyone has left. When you are quite alone.

Last Light

The light changes constantly, two nights in a row can be worlds apart as far as the mood. When it dances across my ceiling, I know to glance outside. I painted the ceilings in a semi gloss just for that reason. Catching the dancing light off the water turns my interior into art...bringing light in on the darkest days. I face West and that was a deliberate decision. I had to wait a long time to find the right light. The actual house itself was not that important. Having the light was. So soothing and alive at the same time. A water world for a water girl.

Indigo Blues

Experimenting with some reflective self images for several different websites, trying to find something a bit surreal.
